Frederick was born at East Trentham, VIC, on the 17th of May 1886, to Francis Charles Caspar(1) and Maria Louistena Meier.
Frederick was a Police Constable(1)(2), in Sea Lake, VIC, when he enlisted in the AIF, 8th Field Artillery Brigade, 29th Battery, on the 6th of November 1915, at the age of 29. He embarked HMAT A7 Medic in May 1916. In his first few days afloat he suffered from sea sickness.
He disembarked at Plymouth, England, in July 1916 and in December was in France. In July Frederick was promoted to Bombardier and then, in August, to temporary Corporal. He was part of the Third Battle of Ypres when he was wounded near Passchendaele, Belgium, on the 14th of October 1917 - a shell fragment to the face. He was taken to a Dressing Station but died later that day and was buried in the Brandhoek New Military Cemetery No 3.
His rank of Corporal was retained after he died.
He is listed on the Shire of Bacchus Marsh Roll of Honour and the Bacchus Marsh & District Roll of Honour. He is also remembered in the Coimadai Avenue of Honour.
