Private Alfred Frank Anderson

Alfred Frank Anderson was born at St Arnaud, VIC, on the 8^th of January 1874, to Andrew Anderson and Ada Georgina Watson.

He was working as a Farmer at Parwan, VIC, when he enlisted in the AIF at Ballarat in December 1917, aged 44. Assigned to the 2^nd General Service Reinforcements (Victoria), he embarked at Sydney aboard the HMAT Euripides, on the 1^st of May 1918. Arriving at New York, he transhipped aboard the HMS Teutonic in July; disembarking in Liverpool on the 2^nd of July 1918 where he was allotted to the 22^nd Battalion.

He was appointed acting Lance Corporal for two months, before reverting to the ranks and being sent to France at the end of August. In January of 1919 he was admitted to Hospital in France with influenza then transferred to Fulham Military Hospital⁽²⁾, England, in February. He embarked for Australia in May 1919 and was discharged on the 29^th of September 1919.

Alfred Frank Anderson died on the 4^th of May 1948, aged 74.

He is listed on the Shire of Bacchus Marsh Roll of Honour, the Bacchus Marsh & District Roll of Honour and the Roll of Honour of S^t. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Bacchus Marsh.
