David was born at Woorndoo, VIC in 1897 to Charles Moore and Marianne Young. David had three brothers, Peter, George and James, who are also remembered in the Avenue.

David was a farmer and gave his address as Houpton Dairy, Bacchus Marsh, VIC when he enlisted in the AIF, 3rd Reinforcements, 5th Battalion on the 1st of December 1914 - he stated his age as 20 next June, however he was probably about 17. He embarked aboard the HMAT A54 Runic in February 1915, disembarking in Egypt some time later.

David served at Gallipoli from May until August when he was admitted to a Field Ambulance and then transferred to Mudros suffering from a septic foot. Shortly afterwards he was evacuated back to England and admitted to Bethnal Green Military Hospital - diagnosis, rheumatism and then to a Convalescent Hospital, Woodcote Park, Epsom until discharged at the beginning of November. In June 1916, still in England, he was AWL for two days and awarded five days confined to barracks and loss of two days pay. A month later he was transferred to the 2nd Machine Gun Company and proceeded to France and marched in to the 1st Division Base Depot. In November David was detached for permenant base duties with 1st Division Headquarters where he remained until he returned to England in November 1917. In January 1918 David embarked for Australia aboard the Port Darwin - rheumatism and disordered action of the heart (DAH)(1), arriving back home in March and was discharged from the AIF in April.

David enlisted in the Royal Australian Air Force - 56822 - in 1942 and was discharged in 1945 as a Corporal in the MED TRAIN UNIT.

David Moore died in 1953 at Fawkner, VIC, aged 56.

He is listed on the Shire of Bacchus Marsh Roll of Honour and the Bacchus Marsh & District Roll of Honour.
