Maurice was born in 1893 at Kerang, Vic, to Maurice Quinn and Margaret Havlin.

Maurice was a Box Maker and gave his address as Port Melbourne when he enlisted on the 13^th of July 1915, aged 22. He embarked aboard the HMAT A32 Themistocles on the 28^th July 1915.

Maurice disembarked at Plymouth, England on the 11^th of September 1916 and allocated to the 2^nd Pioneers. He joined his unit in the field on the 25^th November 1916. In September 1917 he was granted 10 days leave in France. In July 1918 Maurice spent a week in hospital suffering from influenza. In September 1918 he had two weeks leave in England.

Maurice was attached to the Australian Mechanical / Motor Transport Company under AIF educational scheme in December. He rejoined his unit in France in January 1919, returning to England in April and embarking for Australia in June per the Mahia, disembarking in the middle of July and discharged from the AIF on the 31^st of August 1919.

He is listed on the Shire of Bacchus Marsh Roll of Honour, the Bacchus Marsh & District Roll of Honour and the Balliang & District Honor Roll.
